Airport and Transport

Arlanda Airport is located approximately 42 kilometres from Stockholm city.

To get into the city of Stockholm (Prices given as per December 2003)
Train: The Arlanda Express trains run between the airport terminals and Stockholm’s Central Station.The journey takes 20 minutes.You purchase your tickets – SEK 180 one way – at the Airport and before the trip. An additional fee of SEK 50 will be charged for tickets bought on the train.
Taxi: We recommend that you request a fixed price from the airport to the citx. SEK 400.
Bus: There is a direct bus connection from Arlanda Airport to the City Terminal in Stockholm.The journey takes about 40 minutes and costs SEK 89.The bus leaves Arlanda airport every 10 minutes.

Audio-visual Facilities

All lecture halls will be equipped with OH projectors and PC computer projectors.

Badges

The participant’s name badge will be provided at the registration desk. All participants are requested to wear the
badge throughout the Conference. Only badge holders will be admitted to the sessions.

Banking Hours

Banks are generally open from 9.30 to 15.00 hrs Monday through Friday, although many banks in the city close later. All banks are closed at weekends and on public holidays. Automatic tellers are widely accessible. You will find currency exchange facilities at FOREX, located in the City Terminal, open from 8.00 to 21.00 hrs on weekdays and 8.00 to 16.00 hrs on Saturdays and at the Stockholm Central Station, open 8.00 to 21.00 hrs daily.

Business hours & Shopping

Shops are open between 10.00 and 18.00 hrs on weekdays and from 10.00 to 15.00 hrs on Saturdays. Shops in the City centre have extended opening hours, some even on Sundays between 12.00 and 16.00 hrs. The main shopping streets in the centre of Stockholm are: Hamngatan, Biblioteksgatan, Drottninggatan and Västerlånggatan in the Old Town.

Certificate

A certificate of attendance will be provided on request at the registration desk on the last day of the Conference.

Check-in/-out

Hotel check-in time is 15.00 hrs or later. Check-out time is 12.00, noon. Please indicate on the registration form, if you will be arriving after 22.00 hrs.

Credit Cards

Commonly accepted credit cards in hotels, restaurants and shops and on Congress registration are American Express, Diners Club, Visa, Master Card and Eurocard. Restaurants and shops generally display signs indicating what cards they accept.

Currency

The currency in Sweden is the Swedish krona, SEK. 1 Euro equals 9 SEK (as per December, 2003).

Insurance

Neither the Conference Organisers or the Conference Secretariat accept any liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage to property belonging to conference participants, either during or as a result of the conference.Registration fees do not include insurance. It is strongly recommended that you take an insurance policy of your choice as you register for the conference and book your travel. The insurance should be purchased in your country of origin.

Language

The official conference language is English. No simultaneous interpretation will be made.

Letter of Invitation

The Conference Secretariat will be pleased to send Letters of Invitation to any individual making such a request. A Letter of Invitation often facilitates the procedure of obtaining a visa. Please note that the Letter is not a commitment on the part of the conference to provide any financial support. A certificate of attendance will be provided on request at the registration desk on the last day of the Conference.

Meals

Morning and afternoon coffee will be served on the premises.

On-site Registration

On-site registrations will be accepted, but availability of hotel accommodation and participation in the conference dinner at the time, may be severely limited.

Tax-free Shopping

Visitors from countries outside the European Union are able to reclaim VAT on goods purchased in tax-free shops when leaving the country, either at the airport or at the border. The items may not be used whilst in Sweden. Look for the tax-free sign in shops and remember to ask for the VAT reclaim form at the time of purchase. The shop assistant will ask to see your passport.

Visa

Participants needing a visa for entry to Sweden are strongly advised to make their application in their home country and well in advance. If in doubt, information can be obtained from your nearest Swedish Embassy or Consulate or from your travel agency.
